Mayne Medical Refurbishment

Revitalised Heritage

The home of the University of Queensland School of Medicine has a rich history dating back to its development at Herston in the late 1930’s.  This Heritage listed building is still used as an integral part of the Student’s education and whilst maintaining its Heritage character, allowing spaces to facilitate modern teaching techniques.

We assisted with striping back existing fit-outs to create these new spaces exposing much of the original fabric, restoring terrazzo flooring and wall linings, original cornicing and feature timber panelling.   Another significant element of the project was the preservation of medical artifacts which are now displayed for visitors in custom built glass cabinetry.  All works were reviewed and approved by the Heritage Team of Department of Environment & Science.
